Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 1, Página 5
The
old
lady
reached
out
and
felt
Tom’s
shirt,
saying:
“But
you’re
not
too
warm
now.”
And
she
felt
pleased
to
think
she
had
discovered
that
the
shirt
was
dry
without
anyone
knowing
that
was
her
intention.
But
despite
her
efforts,
Tom
understood
what
was
happening,
so
he
preempted
her
next
move:
“Some
of
us
pumped
water
on
our
heads—mine’s
still
damp.
See?”
Aunt
Polly
was
annoyed
that
she
had
missed
that
piece
of
evidence
and
failed
to
catch
him.
Then
she
had
a
new
idea:
“Tom,
you
didn’t
have
to
undo
your
shirt
collar
where
I
sewed
it
to
pump
water
on
your
head,
did
you?
Unbutton
your
jacket!”
The
worry
disappeared
from
Tom’s
face.
He
opened
his
jacket.
His
shirt
collar
was
securely
sewn.
“Bother!
Well,
go
on
with
you.
I
was
sure
you’d
skipped
school
and
gone
swimming.
But
I
forgive
you,
Tom.
I
guess
you’re
better
than
you
seem,
as
the
saying
goes.
This
time.”
She
was
half
sorry
her
cleverness
had
failed,
and
half
glad
that
Tom
had
accidentally
behaved
well
for
once.
