wonder
why
the
bread
does
that.”
"Oh,
it's
not
really
the
bread,"
Tom
said.
"I
think
it's
mostly
about
what
they
say
over
it
before
they
send
it
out."
"But
they
don't
say
anything
over
it,"
Huck
replied.
"I've
watched
them,
and
they
don't."
"Well,
that's
strange,"
Tom
said.
"But
maybe
they
say
it
to
themselves.
Of
course
they
do.
Anyone
could
guess
that."
The
other
boys
agreed
there
was
logic
in
Tom's
words,
because
a
simple
piece
of
bread,
without
a
spell,
couldn't
be
expected
to
act
wisely
in
such
a
serious
task.
"By
jings,
I
wish
I
was
over
there
now,"
Joe
said.
"Me
too,"
Huck
added.
"I'd
give
a
lot
to
know
who
it
is."
The
boys
continued
to
listen
and
watch.
Suddenly,
a
revealing
thought
struck
Tom,
and
he
exclaimed:
