Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 15, Página 3
He
made
his
way
back
to
the
ferry
landing,
found
no
one
around,
and
walked
confidently
onto
the
boat,
knowing
it
was
empty
except
for
a
watchman
who
always
slept
soundly.
He
untied
the
skiff
at
the
stern,
slipped
into
it,
and
soon
was
rowing
carefully
upstream.
When
he
had
rowed
a
mile
above
the
village,
he
started
crossing
the
river
and
worked
hard
at
it.
He
landed
neatly
on
the
other
side,
as
he
was
familiar
with
this
task.
He
considered
taking
the
skiff,
thinking
it
might
be
seen
as
a
ship
and
therefore
a
legitimate
prize
for
a
pirate,
but
he
knew
a
thorough
search
would
be
made
for
it,
which
might
lead
to
discoveries.
So
he
stepped
ashore
and
entered
the
woods.
He
sat
down
to
rest
for
a
while,
forcing
himself
to
stay
awake,
and
then
cautiously
continued
on
the
final
stretch
home.
The
night
was
mostly
over.
It
was
full
daylight
by
the
time
he
reached
the
island
bar.
He
rested
again
until
the
sun
rose
high,
lighting
up
the
river
with
its
brilliance,
and
then
he
dove
into
the
water.
A
little
later,
he
stood
soaking
wet
at
the
camp's
edge
and
heard
Joe
say:
“No,
Tom’s
loyal,
Huck,
and
he’ll
come
back.
He
won’t
leave
us.
He
knows
it
would
be
shameful
for
a
pirate,
and
Tom’s
too
proud
for
that.
He’s
up
to
something,
I
just
wonder
what.”
“Well,
the
stuff
is
ours
anyway,
isn’t
it?”
“Almost,
but
not
yet,
Huck.
The
note
says
they
are
ours
if
he’s
not
back
by
breakfast.”
“Which
I
am!”
exclaimed
Tom
with
dramatic
flair,
stepping
confidently
into
camp.
Soon,
a
delicious
breakfast
of
bacon
and
fish
was
ready,
and
as
the
boys
dug
in,
Tom
recounted
(and
embellished)
his
adventures.
They
felt
like
a
proud
and
bragging
group
of
heroes
when
the
story
ended.
Then
Tom
hid
away
in
a
shady
spot
to
sleep
until
noon,
while
the
other
pirates
prepared
to
fish
and
explore.
