Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 16, Página 6
"Neither
do
I,"
replied
Tom.
"I
could
smoke
it
all
day.
But
I
bet
Jeff
Thatcher
couldn't."
"Jeff
Thatcher!
He'd
fall
over
after
just
two
puffs.
Let
him
try
once
and
see!"
"I
bet
he
would.
And
Johnny
Miller—I
wish
we
could
see
Johnny
Miller
try
it
once."
"Oh,
don't
I!"
Joe
agreed.
"I
bet
you
Johnny
Miller
couldn't
handle
this
at
all.
Just
one
little
puff
would
get
him."
"It
sure
would,
Joe.
You
know,
I
wish
the
boys
could
see
us
now."
"So
do
I."
"Listen—boys,
don't
mention
it,
and
sometime
when
they're
around,
I'll
come
up
to
you
and
say,
'Joe,
got
a
pipe?
I
want
a
smoke.'
And
you'll
say,
all
casual
like,
as
if
it's
nothing,
'Yes,
I
got
my
old
pipe,
and
another
one,
but
my
tobacco
isn't
very
good.'
And
I'll
say,
'Oh,
that's
fine,
if
it's
strong
enough.'
Then
you'll
bring
out
the
pipes,
and
we'll
light
up
calmly,
and
just
watch
their
faces!"
"By
gosh,
that'll
be
fun,
Tom!
I
wish
it
was
now!"
