Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 30, Página 2
"Well,
poor
kid,
you
do
look
like
you’ve
had
a
tough
night—but
there’s
a
bed
for
you
here
after
breakfast.
No,
they
aren’t
dead,
lad—we’re
sorry
to
say.
You
see,
we
knew
exactly
where
to
find
them,
thanks
to
your
description;
so
we
crept
along
quietly
until
we
were
about
fifteen
feet
away
from
them—it
was
as
dark
as
a
cellar
on
that
sumach
path—and
just
then
I
felt
a
sneeze
coming
on.
It
was
the
worst
luck!
I
tried
to
hold
it
back,
but
it
was
no
use—it
came!
I
was
in
front
with
my
pistol
raised,
and
when
the
sneeze
startled
those
scoundrels
into
moving,
I
shouted,
‘Fire
boys!’
and
shot
at
the
sound
of
the
rustling.
So
did
the
boys.
But
those
villains
took
off
in
a
flash,
and
we
chased
them
through
the
woods.
I
think
we
never
hit
them.
They
each
fired
a
shot
as
they
ran,
but
their
bullets
flew
past
us
harmlessly.
As
soon
as
we
lost
the
sound
of
their
footsteps,
we
stopped
chasing
and
went
to
alert
the
constables.
They
gathered
a
posse
and
went
to
guard
the
riverbank,
and
when
it
gets
light,
the
sheriff
and
a
group
will
search
the
woods.
My
boys
will
join
them
soon.
I
wish
we
had
some
description
of
those
scoundrels—it
would
help
a
lot.
But
you
couldn’t
see
what
they
looked
like
in
the
dark,
could
you?"
"Oh
yes;
I
saw
them
downtown
and
followed
them."
"Great!
Describe
them—describe
them,
my
boy!"
"One’s
the
old
deaf
and
mute
Spaniard
that’s
been
around
here
once
or
twice,
and
the
other’s
a
mean-looking,
ragged—"
"That’s
enough,
lad,
we
know
the
men!
We
saw
them
in
the
woods
behind
the
widow’s
one
day,
and
they
snuck
away.
Off
you
go,
boys,
and
tell
the
sheriff—have
your
breakfast
tomorrow
morning!"
The
Welshman’s
sons
left
immediately.
As
they
were
leaving
the
room,
Huck
jumped
up
and
exclaimed:
"Oh,
please
don’t
tell
anyone
it
was
me
who
told
on
them!
Oh,
please!"
"All
right
if
you
say
so,
Huck,
but
you
should
get
the
credit
for
what
you
did."
