Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 31, Página 7
“Maybe
they’re
searching
for
us
now,
Tom.”
“I
hope
so.
Maybe
they
are.”
“When
would
they
notice
we’re
gone,
Tom?”
“Probably
when
they
get
back
to
the
boat.”
“Tom,
it
might
be
dark
then—would
they
notice
we
hadn’t
returned?”
“I’m
not
sure.
But
your
mother
would
notice
as
soon
as
they
got
home.”
A
frightened
look
appeared
on
Becky’s
face,
and
Tom
realized
he’d
made
a
mistake.
Becky
wasn’t
supposed
to
go
home
that
night!
The
children
became
silent
and
thoughtful.
Suddenly,
a
new
wave
of
grief
from
Becky
showed
Tom
that
she
realized
it
too—that
Sunday
morning
might
be
halfway
over
before
Mrs.
Thatcher
noticed
Becky
wasn’t
at
Mrs.
Harper’s.
The
children
watched
their
bit
of
candle
slowly
and
mercilessly
burn
away.
They
saw
the
half-inch
of
wick
stand
alone,
watched
the
weak
flame
rise
and
fall,
climb
the
thin
column
of
smoke,
linger
at
the
top,
and
then—complete
darkness
took
over!
