Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 33, Página 8
"Yes—leave
it.
Injun
Joe’s
ghost
is
definitely
around
here."
"No,
it
isn't,
Huck,
it
isn't.
It
would
haunt
the
place
where
he
died—far
out
at
the
cave's
entrance—five
miles
from
here."
"No,
Tom,
it
wouldn't.
It
would
stay
near
the
money.
I
know
how
ghosts
work,
and
so
do
you."
Tom
started
to
worry
that
Huck
was
right.
Doubts
filled
his
mind.
But
soon
he
had
an
idea—
"Look
here,
Huck,
we're
being
foolish!
Injun
Joe's
ghost
wouldn't
come
where
there's
a
cross!"
The
point
was
clear.
It
had
an
impact.
"Tom,
I
didn't
think
of
that.
But
you're
right.
It's
lucky
for
us,
that
cross
is.
I
guess
we’ll
climb
down
and
look
for
that
box."
Tom
went
first,
cutting
rough
steps
in
the
clay
hill
as
he
went
down.
Huck
followed.
Four
paths
opened
out
from
the
small
cavern
where
the
big
rock
stood.
The
boys
checked
three
with
no
luck.
They
found
a
small
recess
in
the
one
closest
to
the
rock's
base,
with
a
blanket
pallet
spread
out;
also
an
old
suspender,
some
bacon
rind,
and
the
well-chewed
bones
of
two
or
three
chickens.
But
there
was
no
money
box.
The
boys
searched
this
spot
over
and
over,
but
found
nothing.
