Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 33, Página 9
"He
said
under
the
cross.
Well,
this
is
closest
to
being
under
the
cross.
It
can't
be
under
the
rock
itself,
because
it
sits
solid
on
the
ground."
They
searched
everywhere
again
and
then
sat
down,
discouraged.
Huck
had
no
suggestions.
After
a
while,
Tom
said:
"Look
here,
Huck,
there
are
footprints
and
some
candle
grease
on
the
clay
on
one
side
of
this
rock,
but
not
on
the
others.
Now,
why
is
that?
I
bet
you
the
money
is
under
the
rock.
I'm
going
to
dig
in
the
clay."
"That's
not
a
bad
idea,
Tom!"
said
Huck,
excited.
Tom's
"real
Barlow"
was
out
immediately,
and
he
hadn't
dug
four
inches
before
he
hit
wood.
"Hey,
Huck!—did
you
hear
that?"
Huck
started
to
dig
and
scratch
now.
Some
boards
were
soon
uncovered
and
removed.
They
had
hidden
a
natural
gap
leading
under
the
rock.
Tom
got
into
it
and
held
his
candle
as
far
under
the
rock
as
he
could
but
said
he
couldn't
see
the
end
of
the
rift.
He
suggested
exploring.
He
bent
down
and
went
under;
the
narrow
path
sloped
down
gradually.
He
followed
its
winding
course,
first
to
the
right,
then
to
the
left,
with
Huck
close
behind.
Tom
turned
a
short
corner,
and
then
exclaimed:
"My
goodness,
Huck,
look
here!"
