El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 1, Página 14
“Tom’s
getting
very
profound,”
Daisy
said
sadly.
“He
reads
deep
books
with
long
words.
What
was
that
word
we—”
“These
books
are
scientific,”
Tom
insisted.
“This
guy
figured
it
all
out.
We,
the
dominant
race,
must
watch
out,
or
other
races
will
take
control.”
“We’ve
got
to
beat
them
down,”
Daisy
whispered,
winking
at
the
sun.
“You
should
live
in
California—”
Miss
Baker
started,
but
Tom
interrupted
by
moving
in
his
chair.
“We’re
Nordics.
I
am,
you
are,
and
you
are.”
He
nodded
at
Daisy,
and
she
winked
at
me.
“We
made
civilization—science,
art,
all
that.
Do
you
see?”
His
focus
seemed
sad,
as
if
his
old
confidence
was
not
enough.
Then
the
phone
rang,
and
the
butler
left.
Daisy
leaned
toward
me.
