El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 1, Página 26
It
was
summer
at
the
roadhouses
and
garages.
Bright
lights
shone
on
red
petrol
pumps.
When
I
got
to
my
house
at
West
Egg,
I
parked
the
car
in
the
shed.
I
sat
on
an
old
grass
roller
in
the
yard.
The
night
was
loud
and
bright.
The
wind
stopped,
and
I
heard
wings
in
the
trees
and
frogs
singing.
A
cat
moved
in
the
moonlight,
and
I
turned
to
watch
it.
Then
I
saw
I
was
not
alone.
A
man
was
fifty
feet
away.
He
came
from
the
shadow
of
my
neighbor's
big
house.
He
stood
with
his
hands
in
his
pockets,
looking
at
the
stars.
He
moved
slowly
and
stood
firmly.
I
thought
it
was
Mr.
Gatsby,
out
to
see
the
stars.
I
thought
about
calling
him.
Miss
Baker
talked
about
him
at
dinner,
so
I
could
say
hello.
But
I
didn't
call
him.
He
seemed
to
want
to
be
alone.
He
stretched
his
arms
toward
the
dark
water
in
a
strange
way.
Even
from
far
away,
I
thought
he
was
shaking.
I
looked
at
the
sea
and
saw
only
a
small
green
light.
It
was
far
away
and
might
be
at
the
end
of
a
dock.
When
I
looked
back,
Gatsby
was
gone,
and
I
was
alone
in
the
dark
again.
