El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 1, Página 5
“It
belonged
to
Demaine,
the
oil
man,”
he
said.
Then
he
turned
me
again.
“Let’s
go
inside.”
We
walked
through
a
hallway
into
a
bright
room.
The
windows
were
open,
and
the
breeze
moved
the
curtains
like
flags.
The
wind
made
shadows
on
the
rug
like
waves
on
the
sea.
The
only
still
thing
was
a
big
couch
with
two
young
women.
They
wore
white
dresses
that
moved
with
the
wind.
I
listened
to
the
curtains
and
a
picture
on
the
wall.
Then
Tom
closed
the
windows,
and
the
room
became
calm.
The
younger
woman
was
new
to
me.
She
lay
still
on
the
couch,
her
chin
up.
She
didn’t
seem
to
notice
me,
and
I
felt
like
saying
sorry
for
disturbing
her.
The
other
girl,
Daisy,
tried
to
get
up.
She
leaned
forward,
then
laughed,
and
I
laughed
too.
“I’m
paralyzed
with
happiness,”
she
said.”
