El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 17
"With
me?"
she
asked,
surprised.
"Yes,
madame."
She
stood
up
slowly,
looking
at
me
with
surprise,
and
followed
the
butler
to
the
house.
I
noticed
her
evening
dress
looked
like
sports
clothes—she
moved
as
if
she
learned
to
walk
on
golf
courses
on
fresh
mornings.
I
was
alone,
and
it
was
almost
two
o’clock.
Strange
and
interesting
sounds
came
from
a
long
room
with
many
windows
over
the
terrace.
Avoiding
Jordan’s
friend,
who
was
talking
with
two
chorus
girls
and
asking
me
to
join,
I
went
inside.
The
big
room
was
full
of
people.
A
girl
in
yellow
played
the
piano,
and
next
to
her,
a
tall,
red-haired
woman
from
a
famous
chorus
sang.
She
drank
a
lot
of
champagne
and
decided
everything
was
very
sad—she
sang
and
cried.
When
she
paused,
she
sobbed,
then
sang
again
with
a
shaky
voice.
Tears
ran
down
her
face,
but
when
they
touched
her
thick
eyelashes,
they
turned
black
and
moved
slowly
down.
Someone
joked
she
should
sing
the
notes
on
her
face,
and
she
threw
up
her
hands,
sat
in
a
chair,
and
fell
into
a
deep
sleep.
"She
fought
with
a
man
who
says
he’s
her
husband,"
explained
a
girl
next
to
me.
