El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 4, Página 10
We
went
over
the
great
bridge.
The
sunlight
flickered
on
the
cars,
and
the
city
rose
up
across
the
river.
The
city
from
the
Queensboro
Bridge
always
looked
new,
full
of
mystery
and
beauty.
A
hearse
with
flowers
passed
us,
followed
by
two
carriages
with
closed
blinds,
and
more
cheerful
ones
for
friends.
The
friends
looked
at
us
with
serious
eyes,
and
I
was
glad
they
saw
Gatsby’s
great
car.
As
we
crossed
Blackwell’s
Island,
a
limousine
passed
us.
Three
stylish
negroes
were
inside,
and
I
laughed
as
their
eyes
rolled
toward
us.
"Anything
can
happen
now
that
we’ve
crossed
this
bridge,"
I
thought;
"anything
at
all..."
Even
Gatsby
could
happen,
without
any
surprise.
It
was
noon.
I
met
Gatsby
for
lunch
in
a
cool
place
on
Forty-second
Street.
I
blinked
from
the
bright
street
outside
and
saw
him
talking
to
another
man.
"Mr.
Carraway,
this
is
my
friend
Mr.
Wolfshiem."
