El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 4, Página 9
He
said
nothing
more.
He
stayed
quiet
as
we
got
closer
to
the
city.
We
passed
Port
Roosevelt
with
ships,
then
went
through
an
old
area
with
dark
bars.
The
valley
of
ashes
opened
up,
and
I
saw
Mrs.
Wilson
at
the
garage
pump
as
we
passed.
Our
car
lights
spread
through
Astoria,
but
only
half,
because
a
motorcycle
came
beside
us.
A
policeman
rode
next
to
us.
"All
right,
my
friend,"
called
Gatsby.
We
slowed
down.
He
took
a
white
card
from
his
wallet
and
showed
it
to
the
policeman.
"Right
you
are,"
said
the
policeman,
tipping
his
cap.
"I’ll
know
you
next
time,
Mr.
Gatsby.
Excuse
me!"
"What
was
that?"
I
asked.
"A
picture
from
Oxford?"
"I
helped
the
commissioner
once,
and
he
sends
me
a
Christmas
card
every
year."
