El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 5, Página 19
Inside,
we
walked
through
beautiful
rooms.
It
felt
like
guests
were
hiding,
waiting
to
surprise
us.
When
Gatsby
closed
the
library
door,
I
thought
I
heard
someone
laugh
quietly.
We
went
upstairs
through
rooms
with
silk
and
flowers.
We
saw
dressing
rooms,
pool
rooms,
and
bathrooms
with
big
tubs.
We
walked
in
on
a
man
doing
exercises
on
the
floor.
It
was
Mr.
Klipspringer,
the
"boarder."
I
saw
him
on
the
beach
this
morning.
Finally,
we
reached
Gatsby’s
apartment.
It
had
a
bedroom,
a
bath,
and
a
study.
We
sat
and
drank
a
glass
of
Chartreuse
from
a
cupboard.
Gatsby
kept
looking
at
Daisy.
I
think
he
checked
everything
in
the
house
based
on
how
she
reacted.
Sometimes
he
looked
around
like
he
couldn’t
believe
it
was
real.
Once,
he
almost
fell
down
the
stairs.
His
bedroom
was
simple,
except
for
a
gold
dresser
set.
Daisy
took
a
brush
and
smoothed
her
hair.
Gatsby
sat
down,
covered
his
eyes,
and
laughed.
“It’s
so
funny,
old
sport,”
he
said
happily.
“I
can’t—When
I
try
to—”
He
went
through
two
feelings
and
was
starting
a
third.
First,
he
was
embarrassed,
then
very
happy,
and
now
he
was
amazed
she
was
there.
He
had
dreamed
of
this
for
a
long
time.
Now,
he
felt
like
a
clock
running
down.
