El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 27
“What
do
I
owe
you?”
“Dollar
twenty.”
The
hot
sun
was
confusing
me.
I
felt
worried,
but
then
I
realized
Tom
wasn’t
in
trouble.
Wilson
found
out
Myrtle
had
another
life,
and
it
made
him
sick.
I
looked
at
him
and
then
at
Tom.
Tom
also
learned
something
new
an
hour
ago.
I
thought
about
how
big
the
difference
is
between
sick
people
and
healthy
people.
Wilson
looked
very
sick
and
guilty,
like
he
did
something
bad.
“I’ll
give
you
that
car,”
said
Tom.
“I’ll
send
it
over
tomorrow
afternoon.”
That
place
always
made
me
uneasy,
even
in
daylight.
I
turned
my
head
like
I
felt
something
behind
me.
Over
the
ash-heaps,
Doctor
T.
J.
Eckleburg’s
big
eyes
watched
us.
Then
I
saw
other
eyes
looking
at
us
closely
from
nearby.
In
a
window
above
the
garage,
Myrtle
Wilson
moved
the
curtains.
She
looked
down
at
the
car,
very
focused.
She
didn’t
know
we
saw
her.
Her
face
changed
with
different
emotions,
like
a
picture
developing.
Her
look
was
familiar.
I
had
seen
it
on
other
women,
but
on
Myrtle,
it
seemed
strange.
Her
eyes
were
wide
with
jealousy
and
fear,
not
at
Tom,
but
at
Jordan
Baker,
who
she
thought
was
Tom’s
wife.
