El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 28
There
is
no
confusion
like
a
simple
mind’s
confusion.
As
we
drove
away,
Tom
felt
panic.
His
wife
and
his
girlfriend,
who
were
safe
until
an
hour
ago,
were
slipping
away.
He
pressed
the
gas
pedal
to
catch
up
with
Daisy
and
leave
Wilson
behind.
We
drove
fast
to
Astoria
until
we
saw
the
blue
coupé.
“The
big
movies
around
Fiftieth
Street
are
cool,”
said
Jordan.
“I
love
New
York
on
hot
afternoons
when
everyone’s
away.
It
feels
rich,
like
ripe
fruit
ready
to
fall.”
The
word
“rich”
made
Tom
more
uneasy,
but
before
he
could
say
anything,
the
coupé
stopped,
and
Daisy
signaled
us
to
come
next
to
her.
“Where
are
we
going?”
she
shouted.
“How
about
the
movies?”
“It’s
so
hot,”
she
complained.
“You
go.
We’ll
drive
around
and
meet
you
later.”
She
tried
to
be
funny.
“We’ll
meet
on
a
corner.
I’ll
be
the
man
with
two
cigarettes.”
