El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 49
"That
drugstore
job
was
nothing,"
Tom
said
slowly,
"but
now
you've
got
something
big
that
Walter
is
scared
to
tell
me
about."
I
looked
at
Daisy.
She
was
scared,
looking
between
Gatsby
and
her
husband.
Jordan
was
balancing
something
invisible
on
her
chin.
Then
I
looked
back
at
Gatsby
and
was
surprised.
He
looked
like
he
had
"killed
a
man."
For
a
moment,
his
face
truly
seemed
that
way.
It
passed,
and
he
started
talking
quickly
to
Daisy.
He
denied
everything
and
defended
his
name,
though
nobody
accused
him.
But
with
each
word,
Daisy
pulled
away
more
and
more,
so
he
stopped.
Only
the
dead
dream
kept
fighting
as
the
afternoon
went
by,
trying
to
reach
something
that
was
not
there
anymore,
struggling
sadly
toward
that
lost
voice
across
the
room.
The
voice
asked
to
leave
again.
"Please,
Tom!
I
can't
take
this
anymore."
Her
scared
eyes
showed
that
any
plans
or
courage
she
had
were
now
gone.
