El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 16
"Ladies
and
gentlemen,"
he
shouted.
"At
Mr.
Gatsby's
request,
we
will
play
Mr.
Vladmir
Tostoff’s
latest
piece,
which
got
a
lot
of
attention
at
Carnegie
Hall
last
May.
If
you
read
the
papers,
you
know
it
caused
a
big
sensation."
He
smiled
kindly
and
added,
"Some
sensation!"
Everyone
laughed.
"The
piece
is
called,"
he
finished
with
enthusiasm,
"'Vladmir
Tostoff’s
Jazz
History
of
the
World!'"
I
didn't
understand
Mr.
Tostoff’s
music
because
as
it
started,
I
noticed
Gatsby
standing
alone
on
the
marble
steps,
looking
at
different
groups
with
approval.
His
tanned
skin
was
tight
on
his
face,
and
his
short
hair
seemed
freshly
cut.
I
saw
nothing
dark
about
him.
I
wondered
if
not
drinking
made
him
stand
out
from
his
guests
because
he
seemed
more
proper
as
the
party
got
wilder.
When
the
"Jazz
History
of
the
World"
ended,
girls
put
their
heads
on
men's
shoulders
playfully,
but
no
one
did
that
with
Gatsby.
No
one
leaned
on
him,
and
no
singing
groups
included
him.
"I
beg
your
pardon."
Gatsby's
butler
suddenly
appeared
beside
us.
"Miss
Baker?"
he
asked.
"I
beg
your
pardon,
but
Mr.
Gatsby
would
like
to
speak
to
you
alone."
