El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 5, Página 20
After
a
moment,
he
opened
two
large
cabinets
for
us.
They
were
full
of
suits,
dressing
gowns,
and
ties,
with
shirts
stacked
like
bricks.
"I
have
a
man
in
England
who
buys
my
clothes.
He
sends
a
selection
each
season,
spring
and
fall."
He
took
out
a
pile
of
shirts
and
threw
them
one
by
one.
They
were
made
of
linen,
silk,
and
flannel,
losing
their
folds
as
they
fell
and
covered
the
table
in
colorful
disorder.
As
we
admired
them,
he
brought
more,
and
the
pile
grew
higher—shirts
with
stripes,
scrolls,
and
plaids
in
coral,
apple-green,
lavender,
and
faint
orange,
with
blue
monograms.
Suddenly,
Daisy
bent
her
head
into
the
shirts
and
began
to
cry.
"They're
such
beautiful
shirts,"
she
sobbed,
her
voice
muffled.
"It
makes
me
sad
because
I've
never
seen
such
beautiful
shirts
before."
After
seeing
the
house,
we
were
going
to
see
the
grounds,
the
swimming
pool,
the
hydroplane,
and
the
flowers.
But
it
started
to
rain
again
outside
Gatsby's
window,
so
we
stood
looking
at
the
water's
surface.
"If
it
wasn't
for
the
mist,
we
could
see
your
home
across
the
bay,"
said
Gatsby.
"You
always
have
a
green
light
that
burns
all
night
at
the
end
of
your
dock."
