El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 5, Página 26
Outside,
the
wind
was
loud,
and
there
was
a
faint
sound
of
thunder.
All
the
lights
were
coming
on
in
West
Egg.
The
trains
were
carrying
people
home
from
New
York
through
the
rain.
It
was
a
time
of
great
change,
and
excitement
filled
the
air.
“One
thing’s
sure
and
nothing’s
surer
The
rich
get
richer
and
the
poor
get—children.
In
the
meantime,
In
between
time—”
As
I
went
to
say
goodbye,
I
saw
Gatsby's
face
looked
confused
again,
as
if
he
doubted
his
happiness.
Almost
five
years!
There
must
have
been
moments
even
that
afternoon
when
Daisy
didn't
match
his
dreams—not
her
fault,
but
because
of
the
power
of
his
illusion.
It
had
gone
beyond
her,
beyond
everything.
He
had
put
his
whole
heart
into
it,
adding
to
it
all
the
time.
No
fire
or
freshness
can
compare
to
what
a
man
can
imagine
in
his
heart.
