El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 29
"We
can’t
argue
here,"
Tom
said
impatiently
as
a
truck
honked
behind
us.
"Follow
me
to
the
south
side
of
Central
Park,
in
front
of
the
Plaza."
Several
times
he
turned
his
head
to
look
for
their
car,
and
if
traffic
slowed
them
down,
he
waited
until
they
came
into
view.
I
think
he
was
afraid
they
would
disappear
down
a
side
street
and
out
of
his
life
forever.
But
they
didn’t.
And
we
all
took
the
strange
step
of
renting
a
suite
at
the
Plaza
Hotel.
The
long
and
loud
argument
that
got
us
into
that
room
is
hard
to
remember,
but
I
clearly
recall
my
underwear
sticking
to
my
legs
and
sweat
running
down
my
back.
The
idea
started
with
Daisy
suggesting
we
rent
five
bathrooms
for
cold
baths,
then
turned
into
“a
place
to
have
a
mint
julep.”
We
all
said
it
was
a
“crazy
idea”
over
and
over—we
all
talked
at
once
to
a
confused
clerk
and
thought
we
were
being
very
funny.
The
room
was
large
and
hot,
and
even
though
it
was
four
o'clock,
opening
the
windows
only
let
in
hot
air
from
the
Park.
Daisy
went
to
the
mirror
and
stood
with
her
back
to
us,
fixing
her
hair.
"It's
a
nice
suite,"
whispered
Jordan
respectfully,
and
everyone
laughed.
