Lion
said,
“Because
you
are
the
greatest
Wizard,
and
only
you
can
give
me
what
I
ask.”
The
Ball
of
Fire
burned
brightly
for
a
while.
Then
the
voice
said,
“Bring
me
proof
that
the
Wicked
Witch
is
dead.
Then
I
will
give
you
courage.
But
if
the
Witch
is
alive,
you
must
stay
a
coward.”
The
Lion
felt
angry
at
these
words,
but
he
said
nothing.
While
he
stood
there,
the
Ball
of
Fire
became
very
hot.
He
turned
and
ran
out
of
the
room.
He
was
happy
to
see
his
friends
waiting
and
told
them
about
his
meeting
with
the
Wizard.
“What
should
we
do
now?”
asked
Dorothy
sadly.
“We
have
only
one
choice,”
said
the
Lion.
“We
must
go
to
the
land
of
the
Winkies,
find
the
Wicked
Witch,
and
destroy
her.”
“But
what
if
we
can’t?”
asked
Dorothy.
