El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 12, Página 12
Dorothy
worked
hard
every
day.
The
Witch
often
threatened
to
hit
her
with
an
old
umbrella.
But
she
did
not
dare
because
of
the
mark
on
Dorothy’s
forehead.
Dorothy
did
not
know
this
and
was
afraid
for
herself
and
Toto.
Once,
the
Witch
hit
Toto
with
her
umbrella.
The
brave
dog
bit
her
leg.
The
Witch
did
not
bleed
because
she
was
so
wicked
that
her
blood
had
dried
up
long
ago.
Dorothy’s
life
became
sad.
She
realized
it
was
harder
to
return
to
Kansas
and
Aunt
Em.
Sometimes
she
cried
for
hours.
Toto
sat
at
her
feet,
looking
at
her
and
whining.
Toto
did
not
care
if
he
was
in
Kansas
or
Oz
as
long
as
Dorothy
was
with
him.
But
he
knew
Dorothy
was
unhappy,
and
that
made
him
unhappy
too.
The
Wicked
Witch
wanted
Dorothy's
Silver
Shoes
very
much.
Her
bees,
crows,
and
wolves
were
gone,
and
she
had
used
all
the
power
of
the
Golden
Cap.
She
thought
the
Silver
Shoes
would
give
her
more
power.
She
watched
Dorothy
to
see
if
she
took
off
her
shoes.
But
Dorothy
loved
her
pretty
shoes
and
only
took
them
off
at
night
or
when
she
bathed.
The
Witch
was
afraid
of
the
dark
and
water,
so
she
never
took
the
shoes
then.
The
Witch
never
touched
water
or
let
it
touch
her.
The
Witch
was
clever
and
thought
of
a
trick.
She
put
an
iron
bar
on
the
kitchen
floor
and
made
it
invisible.
When
Dorothy
walked,
she
tripped
over
the
bar
and
fell.
She
was
not
hurt,
but
one
Silver
Shoe
came
off.
The
Witch
quickly
grabbed
it
and
put
it
on
her
foot.
The
Witch
was
happy
with
her
trick.
With
one
shoe,
she
had
half
the
power,
and
Dorothy
could
not
use
it
against
her.
Dorothy
saw
she
lost
a
shoe
and
got
angry.
She
said,
“Give
me
back
my
shoe!”
