El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 12, Página 11
Dorothy
worked
hard.
She
was
glad
the
Witch
did
not
want
to
kill
her.
With
Dorothy
working,
the
Witch
thought
she
would
harness
the
Lion
like
a
horse.
It
would
amuse
her
to
make
him
pull
her
chariot.
But
when
she
opened
the
gate,
the
Lion
roared
loudly
and
jumped
at
her.
The
Witch
was
afraid
and
shut
the
gate.
“If
I
cannot
harness
you,”
said
the
Witch
to
the
Lion,
“I
will
starve
you.
You
will
not
eat
until
you
do
as
I
wish.”
She
gave
the
Lion
no
food.
Every
day
at
noon,
she
came
to
the
gate
and
asked,
“Are
you
ready
to
be
harnessed
like
a
horse?”
The
Lion
answered,
“No.
If
you
come
in,
I
will
bite
you.”
The
Lion
did
not
have
to
obey
because
Dorothy
fed
him
every
night.
She
brought
him
food
from
the
cupboard.
After
eating,
he
lay
on
his
straw
bed.
Dorothy
lay
beside
him,
resting
her
head
on
his
mane.
They
talked
about
their
troubles
and
tried
to
plan
an
escape.
But
they
found
no
way
out
of
the
castle.
The
yellow
Winkies,
the
Witch’s
slaves,
guarded
it
and
were
too
afraid
to
disobey
her.
