El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 14, Página 7
"The
princess
was
angry,
and
she
knew
who
did
it.
She
called
all
the
Winged
Monkeys
to
her.
She
first
said
their
wings
should
be
tied,
and
they
should
be
thrown
in
the
river
like
they
did
to
Quelala.
But
my
grandfather
begged
her
not
to
do
it,
because
the
Monkeys
would
drown
with
tied
wings.
Quelala
also
spoke
kindly
for
them.
So
Gayelette
spared
them,
but
she
made
a
rule.
The
Winged
Monkeys
must
do
three
tasks
for
the
owner
of
the
Golden
Cap.
This
Cap
was
a
wedding
gift
for
Quelala,
and
it
cost
the
princess
half
her
kingdom.
My
grandfather
and
the
other
Monkeys
agreed
to
this,
and
that
is
why
we
must
obey
the
owner
of
the
Golden
Cap
three
times,
whoever
it
is."
"And
what
happened
to
them?"
asked
Dorothy,
who
was
very
interested
in
the
story.
"Quelala
was
the
first
owner
of
the
Golden
Cap,"
replied
the
Monkey.
"He
was
the
first
to
tell
us
what
to
do.
His
bride
could
not
stand
to
see
us,
so
he
called
us
in
the
forest
after
he
married
her.
He
ordered
us
to
stay
where
she
could
never
see
a
Winged
Monkey
again.
We
were
happy
to
do
it
because
we
were
all
afraid
of
her.
"That
was
all
we
had
to
do
until
the
Golden
Cap
went
to
the
Wicked
Witch
of
the
West.
She
made
us
enslave
the
Winkies
and
then
drive
Oz
out
of
the
Land
of
the
West.
Now
you
have
the
Golden
Cap,
and
you
can
tell
us
your
wishes
three
times."
When
the
Monkey
King
finished
his
story,
Dorothy
looked
down
and
saw
the
green,
shining
walls
of
the
Emerald
City.
She
was
amazed
by
how
fast
the
Monkeys
flew,
but
she
was
glad
the
journey
was
over.
The
strange
creatures
set
the
travelers
down
carefully
at
the
City
gate.
The
King
bowed
to
Dorothy
and
then
flew
away
quickly,
followed
by
all
his
band.
"That
was
a
good
ride,"
said
the
little
girl.
