El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 20, Página 3
“How
can
we
get
down?”
asked
Dorothy.
The
ladder
was
too
heavy
to
pull
up,
so
the
Scarecrow
fell
off
the
wall,
and
the
others
jumped
down
onto
him.
This
way,
the
hard
floor
did
not
hurt
their
feet.
They
were
careful
not
to
land
on
his
head
and
get
pins
in
their
feet.
When
all
were
safely
down,
they
picked
up
the
Scarecrow,
who
was
quite
flattened,
and
patted
his
straw
back
into
shape.
“We
must
cross
this
strange
place
to
get
to
the
other
side,”
said
Dorothy,
“for
it
would
be
unwise
to
go
any
other
way
but
South.”
They
began
walking
through
the
china
people’s
country.
The
first
thing
they
saw
was
a
china
milkmaid
milking
a
china
cow.
As
they
came
near,
the
cow
kicked
and
knocked
over
the
stool,
the
pail,
and
even
the
milkmaid.
All
fell
on
the
china
ground
with
a
loud
clatter.
Dorothy
was
shocked
to
see
the
cow’s
leg
had
broken
off,
and
the
pail
was
in
small
pieces.
The
poor
milkmaid
had
a
nick
in
her
left
elbow.
“There!”
cried
the
milkmaid
angrily.
“See
what
you
have
done!
My
cow
broke
her
leg,
and
I
must
take
her
to
the
mender’s
shop
to
have
it
glued
on
again.
Why
did
you
come
and
frighten
my
cow?”
