El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 8, Página 1
Our
group
of
travelers
woke
up
the
next
morning
feeling
refreshed
and
hopeful.
Dorothy
had
a
wonderful
breakfast
of
peaches
and
plums
from
the
trees
by
the
river.
Behind
them
was
the
dark
forest
they
had
safely
passed,
although
they
had
many
troubles.
But
ahead
was
a
beautiful,
sunny
land
that
seemed
to
invite
them
to
the
Emerald
City.
However,
a
wide
river
now
stopped
them
from
reaching
this
lovely
land.
The
raft
was
almost
ready,
and
after
the
Tin
Woodman
cut
a
few
more
logs
and
tied
them
with
wooden
pins,
they
were
set
to
go.
Dorothy
sat
in
the
middle
of
the
raft
with
Toto
in
her
arms.
When
the
Cowardly
Lion
stepped
onto
the
raft,
it
tipped
because
he
was
big
and
heavy.
But
the
Scarecrow
and
the
Tin
Woodman
stood
on
the
other
end
to
balance
it,
and
they
used
long
poles
to
push
the
raft
through
the
water.
They
moved
along
quite
well
at
first,
but
when
they
reached
the
middle
of
the
river,
the
strong
current
pushed
the
raft
downstream,
farther
from
the
yellow
brick
road.
The
water
was
so
deep
that
the
long
poles
could
not
reach
the
bottom.
“This
is
bad,”
said
the
Tin
Woodman.
“If
we
cannot
get
to
the
land,
we
will
be
carried
into
the
country
of
the
Wicked
Witch
of
the
West,
and
she
will
enchant
us
and
make
us
her
slaves.”
“And
then
I
will
not
get
any
brains,”
said
the
Scarecrow.
“And
I
will
not
get
any
courage,”
said
the
Cowardly
Lion.
