El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 8, Página 1
Our
small
group
of
travelers
woke
up
the
next
morning
feeling
refreshed
and
hopeful.
Dorothy
had
breakfast
like
a
princess,
eating
peaches
and
plums
from
the
trees
by
the
river.
Behind
them
was
the
dark
forest
they
had
safely
crossed,
despite
many
challenges.
Ahead
was
a
beautiful,
sunny
country
that
seemed
to
invite
them
to
the
Emerald
City.
However,
a
wide
river
now
separated
them
from
this
lovely
land.
The
raft
was
almost
finished,
and
after
the
Tin
Woodman
cut
a
few
more
logs
and
tied
them
together
with
wooden
pins,
they
were
ready
to
go.
Dorothy
sat
in
the
middle
of
the
raft,
holding
Toto
in
her
arms.
When
the
Cowardly
Lion
stepped
on
the
raft,
it
tipped
because
he
was
big
and
heavy.
The
Scarecrow
and
the
Tin
Woodman
stood
at
the
other
end
to
balance
it,
holding
long
poles
to
push
the
raft
through
the
water.
They
started
off
quite
well,
but
when
they
reached
the
middle
of
the
river,
the
strong
current
pushed
the
raft
downstream,
taking
them
farther
from
the
yellow
brick
road.
The
water
was
so
deep
that
their
long
poles
couldn't
touch
the
bottom.
“This
is
bad,”
said
the
Tin
Woodman.
“If
we
can't
reach
the
land,
we'll
be
taken
to
the
Wicked
Witch
of
the
West's
country.
She
will
enchant
us
and
make
us
her
slaves.”
“And
then
I
won't
get
any
brains,”
said
the
Scarecrow.
“And
I
won't
get
any
courage,”
said
the
Cowardly
Lion.
