Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Copper Beeches
Capítulo 12, Página 24
"He's
come
back
and
done
it.
He's
clever
and
dangerous.
I
wouldn't
be
surprised
if
it's
him
I
hear
on
the
stairs
now.
Watson,
it
might
be
wise
to
have
your
pistol
ready."
He
barely
finished
speaking
when
a
man
appeared
at
the
door,
a
large,
heavy
man
with
a
stick.
Miss
Hunter
screamed
and
backed
against
the
wall,
but
Holmes
stepped
forward
to
confront
him.
"You
villain!"
he
shouted.
"Where
is
your
daughter?"
The
fat
man
looked
around,
then
glanced
up
at
the
open
skylight.
"I
should
be
asking
you
that,"
he
yelled.
"You
thieves!
Spies
and
thieves!
I’ve
caught
you,
haven’t
I?
You’re
in
my
power
now.
I’ll
deal
with
you!"
He
turned
and
rushed
down
the
stairs
as
fast
as
he
could.
"He’s
gone
to
get
the
dog!"
cried
Miss
Hunter.
"I
have
my
revolver,"
I
said.
"Better
close
the
front
door,"
Holmes
shouted,
and
we
all
hurried
down
the
stairs
together.
We
barely
reached
the
hall
when
we
heard
the
howl
of
a
hound,
followed
by
a
scream
of
pain
and
a
terrible
worrying
sound
that
was
dreadful
to
hear.
An
elderly
man
with
a
red
face
and
trembling
limbs
stumbled
out
from
a
side
door.
