Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 31, Página 2
“I
think
I
can
find
it,
but
the
bats
might
put
out
our
candles.
Let’s
try
another
way.”
“Okay.
But
I
hope
we
don’t
get
lost.
That
would
be
terrible!”
Becky
shivered
at
the
thought.
They
walked
through
a
passage,
looking
for
something
familiar,
but
everything
was
strange.
Each
time
Tom
looked
around,
Becky
watched
his
face
for
a
good
sign.
He
said
cheerfully:
“Oh,
it’s
all
right.
This
isn’t
the
one,
but
we’ll
find
it
soon!”
But
Tom
felt
less
hopeful
each
time.
He
started
going
down
random
paths,
hoping
to
find
the
right
one.
He
said
it
was
“all
right,”
but
he
felt
scared
inside.
Becky
stayed
close,
afraid,
and
tried
not
to
cry,
but
she
couldn’t
help
it.
Finally,
she
said:
“Oh,
Tom,
forget
the
bats,
let’s
go
back
that
way!
We
keep
getting
more
lost.”
“Listen!”
he
said.
It
was
very
quiet,
so
quiet
they
could
hear
their
own
breathing.
Tom
shouted.
The
sound
echoed
and
faded
away
like
laughter.
