El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 1, Página 26
It
was
summer.
The
roadhouse
roofs
were
warm.
New
red
petrol
pumps
stood
in
the
light.
I
drove
to
my
house
at
West
Egg.
I
parked
the
car
and
sat
on
a
grass
roller.
The
night
was
loud
and
bright.
The
wind
moved
the
trees.
Frogs
sang
in
the
night.
A
cat
moved
in
the
moonlight.
I
turned
my
head
and
saw
a
man.
He
was
near
my
neighbor's
big
house.
He
stood
with
his
hands
in
his
pockets.
He
looked
at
the
stars.
It
was
Mr.
Gatsby.
He
looked
calm
and
sure
on
the
lawn.
I
wanted
to
call
him.
Miss
Baker
talked
about
him
at
dinner.
But
I
did
not
call
him.
He
looked
happy
to
be
alone.
He
stretched
his
arms
to
the
dark
water.
He
seemed
to
tremble.
I
looked
at
the
sea.
I
saw
one
green
light
far
away.
It
was
maybe
a
dock.
I
looked
back
for
Gatsby.
He
was
gone.
I
was
alone
in
the
dark.
