El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 1, Página 19
We
didn’t
talk
about
the
horses
again.
Tom
and
Miss
Baker
walked
back
into
the
library.
They
walked
as
if
they
were
going
to
watch
over
something.
I
followed
Daisy
around
the
verandas
to
the
porch
in
front.
In
the
dark,
we
sat
down
on
a
wicker
settee.
Daisy
put
her
face
in
her
hands
as
if
she
was
feeling
its
shape.
Her
eyes
looked
out
into
the
dark.
I
saw
she
was
upset,
so
I
asked
her
about
her
little
girl.
“We
don’t
know
each
other
well,
Nick,”
she
said
suddenly.
“Even
if
we
are
cousins.
You
didn’t
come
to
my
wedding.”
“I
wasn’t
back
from
the
war.”
“That’s
true.”
She
paused.
“Well,
I’ve
had
a
bad
time,
Nick,
and
I’m
pretty
cynical
about
everything.”
She
had
a
reason
to
be.
I
waited,
but
she
didn’t
say
more.
After
a
moment,
I
asked
again
about
her
daughter.
