El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 2, Página 2
I
followed
him
over
a
low
white
fence.
We
walked
back
along
the
road
under
Doctor
Eckleburg’s
eyes.
The
only
building
we
saw
was
a
small
yellow
brick
block
on
the
edge
of
the
waste
land.
It
was
like
a
tiny
Main
Street.
One
shop
was
for
rent,
another
was
an
all-night
restaurant,
and
the
third
was
a
garage.
It
said:
George
B.
Wilson.
Cars
bought
and
sold.
I
followed
Tom
inside.
The
inside
was
poor
and
empty.
The
only
car
was
a
dusty,
broken
Ford
in
a
corner.
I
thought
maybe
the
garage
was
a
cover
for
something
else,
like
fancy
rooms
upstairs.
Then
the
owner
came
out
of
an
office.
He
was
a
blond,
tired-looking
man.
When
he
saw
us,
his
eyes
had
a
little
hope.
“Hello,
Wilson,
old
man,”
said
Tom,
patting
him
on
the
shoulder.
“How’s
business?”
“I
can’t
complain,”
Wilson
said,
but
it
didn’t
sound
true.
“When
will
you
sell
me
that
car?”
“Next
week;
my
man
is
working
on
it
now.”
“He
works
pretty
slow,
doesn’t
he?”
