El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 15, Página 12
"Oh,"
she
said,
"I
understand."
"Well,
one
day
I
went
up
in
a
balloon,
and
the
ropes
got
twisted,
so
I
couldn't
come
down
again.
It
went
high
above
the
clouds,
so
far
that
a
wind
took
it
many
miles
away.
For
a
day
and
a
night,
I
traveled
through
the
air,
and
on
the
morning
of
the
second
day,
I
woke
up
to
find
the
balloon
floating
over
a
strange
and
beautiful
country.
"It
came
down
slowly,
and
I
wasn't
hurt
at
all.
But
I
found
myself
among
strange
people,
who,
seeing
me
come
from
the
clouds,
thought
I
was
a
great
Wizard.
Of
course,
I
let
them
think
that
because
they
were
afraid
of
me
and
promised
to
do
anything
I
wanted.
"Just
to
amuse
myself
and
keep
them
busy,
I
told
them
to
build
this
City
and
my
Palace,
and
they
did
it
willingly.
Then
I
thought,
since
the
country
was
so
green
and
beautiful,
I
would
call
it
the
Emerald
City.
To
make
the
name
fit
better,
I
put
green
spectacles
on
everyone,
so
everything
they
saw
looked
green."
"But
isn't
everything
here
green?"
asked
Dorothy.
"No
more
than
in
any
other
city,"
replied
Oz.
"But
when
you
wear
green
spectacles,
everything
looks
green.
The
Emerald
City
was
built
many
years
ago,
for
I
was
a
young
man
when
the
balloon
brought
me
here,
and
I
am
very
old
now.
But
my
people
have
worn
green
glasses
for
so
long
that
most
think
it
really
is
an
Emerald
City.
It’s
a
beautiful
place,
full
of
jewels
and
precious
metals,
and
everything
needed
to
be
happy.
I
have
been
good
to
the
people,
and
they
like
me,
but
since
this
Palace
was
built,
I
have
shut
myself
away
and
wouldn’t
see
any
of
them.
