El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 3, Página 1
When
Dorothy
was
alone,
she
started
to
feel
hungry.
She
went
to
the
cupboard
and
cut
some
bread,
spreading
butter
on
it.
She
gave
some
to
Toto
and
took
a
pail
from
the
shelf.
She
carried
it
to
the
little
brook
and
filled
it
with
clear,
sparkling
water.
Toto
ran
to
the
trees
and
barked
at
the
birds
sitting
there.
Dorothy
went
to
get
him
and
saw
delicious
fruit
hanging
from
the
branches.
She
picked
some,
finding
it
perfect
to
add
to
her
breakfast.
Then
she
returned
to
the
house
and,
after
she
and
Toto
drank
the
cool,
clear
water,
she
began
preparing
for
the
journey
to
the
City
of
Emeralds.
Dorothy
had
only
one
other
dress,
but
it
was
clean
and
hanging
on
a
peg
beside
her
bed.
It
was
gingham,
with
white
and
blue
checks.
Although
the
blue
was
faded
from
many
washings,
it
was
still
a
pretty
dress.
She
washed
herself
carefully,
dressed
in
the
clean
gingham,
and
tied
her
pink
sunbonnet
on
her
head.
She
took
a
little
basket
and
filled
it
with
bread
from
the
cupboard,
covering
it
with
a
white
cloth.
Then
she
looked
at
her
feet
and
noticed
how
old
and
worn
her
shoes
were.
“These
surely
won't
do
for
a
long
journey,
Toto,”
she
said.
Toto
looked
up
at
her
with
his
little
black
eyes
and
wagged
his
tail
to
show
he
understood.
At
that
moment,
Dorothy
saw
the
silver
shoes
that
had
belonged
to
the
Witch
of
the
East
lying
on
the
table.
“I
wonder
if
they
will
fit
me,”
she
said
to
Toto.
“They
would
be
perfect
for
a
long
walk
because
they
wouldn't
wear
out.”
